22^nd November, 2024, Kolkata:

One day workshop on “Value chain & supply chain management of pineapple leaf fibre” was organized at Marnger village of Ri-Bhoi district of meghalaya under NEH scheme of ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata in collaboration with ICAR- NEH Region, Barapani. Pineapple leaf fibre extractor designed and developed at ICAR-NINFET Kolkata was supplied to this village where the farmers grow pineapple fruits in a large scale.

Dr. Laxmikanta Nayak, Head, Transfer of Technology Division, ICAR-NINFET has elaborated upon the potential of pineapple leaf for extraction of high value fibre. He also spoken about the scope of diversified value-added products from pineapple leaf fibre.

Dr. Nageshkumar T., Scientist, ICAR-NINFET, has demonstrated the extractor to the pineapple growers.

Dr. B.P. Singh, Head, Division of Technology Assessment & Capacity Building, ICAR RC for NEHR, Barapani has spoken about the supply chain management of the pineapple leaf fibre for livelihood improvement of the pineapple growers.

Dr. N. U. Singh, Singh, Senior Scientist, ICAR RC for NEHR has coordinated the event.

Fifty (50) progressive farmers associated with pineapple cultivation and processing have participated in this event.
