Workshop on Jute Leaf Tea at Katihar, Bihar

ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering
& Technology in collaboration with the ATMA,
Katihar organized a joint workshop on ‘Development of Jute Lead Drink for
enhancing farmers’ income’ at Mansahi Block of Katihar District, Bihar during
July 12-13, 2024.
Dr. S.K.Jha, Deputy Director, ATMA Katihar, Bihar
emphasized the upliftment of jute farmers’ through planning and working in
collaboration with ICAR-NINFET. He urged scientific inputs and awareness
programmes at the jute growing areas is utmost requirement for the farmers;
encouragement.
Dr. D. P. Ray, Principal Scientist & Head, Chemical
& Biochemical Processing Division, ICAR-NINFET highlighted the importance
of Jute leaf in practicing jute agriculture. He also stressed upon the need
for closer association with different organizations for fruitful outcomes.
Dr. Diwakar Paswan, Principal Scientist & In-charge
of Jute Research Station, Katihar briefed about the need for joint
collaborative approach for economic return from jute leaves.
Mr. Narayan Kumar Moholi, In-Charge, Agriculture
Office, Katihar; Dr. Sushil Kumar, Senior Scientist, KVK, Katihar and Dr.
Pankaj Kumar, Senior Scientist, KVK, Katihar and many other officials from
Department of Agriculture, Bihar attended and deliberated in the programme.
Dr. Ipsita Das, Senior Technical Assistant of
ICAR-NINFET demonstrated the protocol for collection and processing jute leaf
for development of jute leaf drinks.
More than 80 delegates from KVKs, Agriculture
Department, Bihar and 50 farmers participated in the workshop and deliberated
at the programme.
