Vocational Training on “Empowering Livelihoods through Non-conventional Fibre Processing and Value Addition-Pineapple and Banana Fibres”

A ten days
two vocational training programmes titled “Empowering Livelihoods through
Non-conventional Fibre Processing and Value Addition-Pineapple and Banana
Fibres” organized by The Department of Textile and Apparel Designing, College
of Community Science, CAU, Tura, Meghalaya in collaboration under the NEH, ICAR-NINFET,
Kolkata were concluded today.
The
training programmes gave practical insights and capacity building for farmers,
artisans and stakeholders from Garo hills region focusing on the extraction,
processing and value addition of non-conventional fibres such as pineapple and
banana and overall development of eco-friendly textile practices in the North
Eastern region.
The event was attended by 46 farmers, dignitaries, Heads of the Departments, Faculties, Staffs and Students.
