Training Programme on ‘Manufacturing of Jute Hand Bag and Jute Handicrafts from Jute’ at Katihar, Bihar

ICAR-National
Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering & Technology inaugurated two
Training Programmes on ‘Manufacturing of Jute Hand Bag’ and ‘Development of
Handicrafts from Jute’ for a duration of 10 days in collaboration with the
ATMA, Katihar on July 13, 2024. The programme was organized under SCSP scheme
and were aimed to develop competencies amongst the trainees for identifying
suitable master trainers.
Dr.
S.K.Jha, Deputy Director, ATMA Katihar, Bihar in his inaugural address, urged the ICAR-National Institute of
Natural Fibre Engineering & Technology for the effective training of the
people for promoting the entrepreneurship development.

Ray, Principal Scientist & Head, Chemical & Biochemical Processing
Division, ICAR-NINFET acknowledged Dr. Jha's assistance and leadership for
upbringing the jute cultivation in Bihar. He also highlighted the collaboration
with ATMA, Katihar will pave a new path in achieving objectives of both the
organizations.
Sh. Sujai
Das, Sr. Scientist & Nodal Officer, Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan, ICAR-NINFET
highlighted that the training may help to formulate a trained group artisans to
improve rural livelihoods in Bihar.
Dr.
Diwakar Paswan, Principal Scientist & In-charge of Jute Research Station,
Katihar, Mr. Narayan Kumar Moholi, In-Charge, Agriculture Office, Katihar; Dr.
Sushil Kumar, Senior Scientist, KVK, Katihar and Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Senior
Scientist, KVK, Katihar and many other officials from Department of
Agriculture, Bihar were also present during the programme.
An
exchange of MoU between ICAR-NINFET and ATMA, Katihar was done for active
collaboration and visible outcomes.
More than
75 delegates from different departments of Bihar and 50 trainees participated
in the training programme.
