One-day workshop on “Instrumental Jute grading system” organized at ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata

ICAR-National Institute of natural fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata organized a one-day workshop on “Instrumental jute grading system” on 2nd January, 2025 as part of National Natural Fibre Festival.

Shri J.K. Gupta, Head of Textiles, Bureau of Indian Standards, highlighted the institute's contributions to jute fiber testing and congratulated NINFET for having its instruments recommended in IS: 7032 (2024).

Dr. D B Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata highlighted recent advancements, particularly the development of an AI-IoT-enabled jute grading instrument and the institute's efforts in disseminating BIS approved digital grading instruments.

Dr. K. Narasaih, ADG (Process Engineering) from New Delhi, congratulated NINFET on the publication of the BIS standard and encouraged scientists to develop portable, user-friendly instruments for farmers.

Shri Jintu Das, Director of the Department of Jute Development, emphasized the advantages of using digital instruments at the farmer level. He also highlighted the portable digital grading instruments developed by the institute for use by both farmers and industries. A leaflet on “AI-IoT-enabled jute grading system” was launched during the workshop. The workshop was attended by representatives from jute mills, manufacturers, and academics from various institutes. Dr. Nageshkumar, T., Dr. Prateek Shrivastava and Dr. Avijit Das, coordinated the workshop.
