National workshop organized at ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata

National workshop on "Jute- Production, Marketing and Utilization Strategies" was organized jointly by Directorate of Jute Development (DJD) & ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata here today.

Dr. B.S. Mahapatra, former Vice Chancellor, BCKV and Chairman of the inaugural session has spoken about the synergy between different R&D organizations working on jute for betterment of the progress in the sector.

Dr. S.K. Biswas, Ex-Director, DJD and Chief Guest of the programme has urged the participants to implement new technologies in jute production & processing at farm level.

Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director has presented in brief the new technologies emerged out of the R&D efforts of the institute.

Dr. L.K. Nayak, Head, ToT Division and Coordinator of the workshop has highlighted upon the programme schedule.

Different technical sessions viz. Jute production, Jute processing & value addition and marketing of jute products were convened during the workshop where experts have delivered lectures on relevant topics.

More than 100 persons representing jute growing states, Jute Corporation of India (JCI), Directorate of Jute Development (DJD), National Jute Board (NJB), State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) have participated in the workshop.

On this occasion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata and M/s Parna Creations, Karnataka for licensing of technology on arecanut fibre-based leather products.
