ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering Technology, Kolkata organized workshop on ‘Leveraging Natural fibre based sustainable textiles and other value-added products’ under Consortium Research Platform on Natural Fibers today.

Director, NINFET welcomed all and highlighted the institute developed technologies under CRP platform, also highlighted importance of collaborative work in natural fibre sector.  Dr. A. J. Shaikh, Ex-Director, ICAR-CIRCOT graced the programme as guest of honour and briefed the importance of natural resources to achieve sustainability in textile sector, while Dr. K. Narsaiah, ADG (PE), ICAR, Chief Guest of the programme appreciated the work done by the whole project teams under consortium research platform on Natural Fibers. He suggested to formulate All India Coordinated Research Project or All India Network Project under natural fibre theme.

There were two technical sessions covering completed and ongoing projects under ICAR-NINFET, ICAR-CSWRI, ICAR-CIRCOT, AAU, CICR & TNAU as lead centers. In this workshop total seventy (70) participants attended the programme including professors, scientistS, entrepreneurs, expertS and Students from all over India. Dr. Sanjoy Debnath, Head, MP division coordinated the whole workshop programme.
