High Profile Stakeholder meeting between MSME&T, Govt. of West Bengal and Scientist of ICAR-NINFET organized

MSME & T, Govt. of WB called a meeting with scientists of ICAR-NINFET: A high-profile stakeholder meeting was called by Sri Rajesh Pandey IAS Principal Secretary MSME&T to interact with scientists of NINFET. Director, ICAR-NINFET, Dr. D. B. Shakyawar along with Dr. Sanjoy Debnath, Principal Scientist and HOD, MPD and Dr. Manik Bhowmick, Senior Scientist attended the meeting on 17th February 2025 at the Shilpa Sadan, Camac Street, 7th Floor, Kolkata – 700016.


Dr D B Shakyawar, Director of the institute presented the woollenised jute yarn technology for knitwear and jute - cotton blended yarn for apparel men’s wears products. Shri Pandey emphasised on commercialising of these technologies, inviting proposals from the textile industry for sustainable jute based diversified apparel knitwear and dress material. Dr D B Shakyawar, Director NINFET proposed on development of a road map jointly by MSME&T WB and NINFET. A detail project report (DPR) along with the product profile will be developed by scientists of NINFET and will be presented during the fourth coming stakeholders meeting. Shri Pandey also suggested to invite representatives from industries, State Govt officers and scientists of NINFET to develop future strategies for setting up manufacturing of garments from jute and jute blended yarns. A marketing strategy will also be discussed in this line through the Govt of West Bengal marketing agencies like Biswa-Bangla, Tantuja etc.  The meeting was attended by Shri Debasish Bandyopadhyay, WBCS (Executive), Special Secretary, Department of MSME and Textiles, Govt of West Bengal, Shri Rajiv Kumar Ghosh, WBCS (Executive), Director of Textiles (Handloom etc.), Govt of West Bengal, Shri Dipankar Chakraborty, Managing Director, Tamralipta Co-operative Spinning Mills Ltd., Rangamati, Paschim Medinipur, Shri Ashis Narayan Banerjee, Directorate of Textiles (Handloom etc.).
