Celebration of World Intellectual Property Day

World
Intellectual Property Day is observed annually on April 26th. The
event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in
2000 to raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs
impact on daily life and to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by
creators and innovators to the development of economies and societies across
the globe.
The program was attended by 50
participants comprising all the Scientists, Technical Officers, AO, Administrative heads, RAs,
SRFs, JRFs, YPs.
The inauguration ceremony, infused
with the vibrant melodies of the ICAR song, set the tone for an engaging and
insightful discourse on innovation and creativity. Dr. S. B.
Roy, In-Charge,
ITMU and PI-ABI started the programme by explicating the importance of IP Day
celebration with the view of 17 Sustainable Developmental Goals.
Dr. D. B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET welcomed the august participants
addressing the present scenario of IP Protection in Indian context with the
view of global issues.
Advocate Anjan Sen, ICAR Empaneled Patent Attorney, was the
first invited speaker of the Day. He emphasized on the fine tuning with the
scientists and techno-legal intermingling about their official disclosure of
the inventions. He also added that IP
will be the sign of future development of any society in near future which will
comply the satisfactory and needs of the people.
Dr. Sushil Kumar Mitra, Former Deputy Controller of Patent & Design,
delivered lectures on the immerging importance of pro-biotic, nano-polymer,
bio-detection kits which will directly useful to the society balancing people, economics,
environments and sustainability of the inter disciplinary SDG.
Two informative lectures, delivered by the esteemed
guests, provided a nuanced perspective on leveraging IP mechanisms to drive
socio-economic progress and environmental sustainability. The sessions were
characterized by active participation and engaging discussions, showcasing the
collective commitment towards harnessing IP for the greater good.
An interactive session followed the lectures, offering
attendees an opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and seek
clarifications on IP-related issues. The session fostered a dynamic exchange of
insights, nurturing collaboration and synergy among stakeholders committed to
realizing the SDGs through innovative solutions. The program concluded with the
final remarks conveyed by Dr. S. B. Roy, In-charge of ITMU, who eloquently
summarized the key takeaways and emphasized the transformative potential of IP
in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future. A heartfelt vote of thanks
was extended to all participants, guests, and organizers for their invaluable
contributions towards making the event a resounding success.
